 I haven’t had as much luck ripening them at home.  Sometimes they’ll turn to inedible mush before they ever smell sweet.  Is ripeness the one determining factor in getting a sweet melon?  Or are there other variables?

Thanks for the tips. It does seem to be a hardy plant despite my accidental assault with the fungicide. I would also think that the bronze would be a common occurence accept the bronzed leaves look every so slightly wilted in comparison.
